- FWC produces Provider Pursuits, a publication that lists approved professional development opportunities statewide. - *Training for Early Care & Education I and Training for Early Care & Education II are two 60-hour packages of training that encompass the 13 functional topic areas and competency goals for CDA. Participants are required to meet attendance requirements, complete homework assignments, and pass quizzes to successfully complete the course. *In response to the recent changes to the Delacare: Rules for Early Care and Education and School-Age Centers (formerly DelaCare: Requirements for Day Care Centers) there will be two options available for center-based staff to qualify for the position of Early Childhood Assistant Teacher in addition to completing Training for Early Care and Education I (TECE1).
- Option 1: Successfully complete the Portfolio Development and Training class. This 6-hour course will assist participants in demonstrating prior experience and training through the development of a portfolio that is equivalent to the information taught in TECE I.
- Option 2: Successfully pass the Early Childhood Education Test, recognized by the Office of Child Care Licensing, which is equivalent to the information taught in TECE I. To view/print a list of training objectives covered on the test, Click here.
How to Register for Training Opportunities
FWC coordinates Delaware First classes, resource center training, and conferences, covering a wide variety of topics.
Providers may register online for Delaware First and FWC training (both considered FWC-sponsored training), if you have a valid MasterCard, Visa, or Discover credit card. To pay by check or money order for an FWC-sponsored training, please print a registration form that can be mailed to FWC along with your payment. Please review our training terms and conditions.
Delaware First training and publication of Provider Pursuits is made possible with funding from the federal Child Care Development Fund managed by the Department of Education.
