PROGRAMS
Our Provider Services Department administers a variety of programs that increase the supply and improve the quality of child care. Many of these programs represent public-private partnerships. For more in-depth information about our programs, select from the list below:
Child and Adult Care Food Program
The Food Program is a nutrition program, administered in Delaware by the Department of Education and funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. FWC is a program sponsor for family child care and small center-based programs throughout Delaware.
Child Care Health Consultant Registry
Child Care Health Consultants provide health and safety education to children and child care staff, offer referrals to community resources, and technical assistance on health and safety policies and practices. Call 479-1676 for a referral.
Delaware AfterSchool Alliance (DEASA)
The Delaware AfterSchool Alliance (DEASA) is a public-private partnership that endorses the goal of all school-age children being academically, socially, culturally, and physically healthy.
Delaware Child Care Capacity Building Program
The Capacity Building Program increases the supply and quality of child care to fill identified gaps: infant/toddler care, care for school-age children, care for children with disabilities, care for mildly ill children, and care during non-traditional hours.
Early Childhood Apprenticeship Program
This program provides formal education and on-the-job training linked to compensation.
FACET (Families and Centers Empowered Together)
Located in child care centers, FACET is a family support program that is designed to strengthen families through educational activities, fun family events, and other support services.
Relative Care Training
There is a package of training and supports offered to relatives contracted with the Delaware Division of Social Services to care for qualified children.
Resource Centers/Mobile Resource Centers
FWC's four resource centers and three mobile resource centers give child care programs convenient access to information and materials for professional and program development. The centers feature a lending library of educational toys, audio-visual media, professional development books, and equipment.
T.E.A.C.H.:
The T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Project provides scholarships and supports for CDA, coursework leading toward an Associate Degree in Early Childhood, and coursework leading toward the Early Childhood Education Director's Certificate. As a result of the completion of a participant's coursework, compensation is awarded, requiring a commitment to the field of early childhood.
Training: Professional Development for Early Care and Education Professionals
As part of the Delaware First comprehensive statewide career development system for early care and education professionals, FWC coordinates Delaware First workshops and conferences throughout Delaware and publishes a quarterly training calendar/newsletter called Provider Pursuits.
