Families and Centers Empowered Together (FACET)

FACET is a family support, empowerment, and substance abuse prevention program located in child care centers. The focus of the program is to:

• Build personal and community relationships
• Increase self esteem and sense of control
• Develop leadership skills
• Reduce stress
• Encourage parenting practices that prevent child abuse, neglect, and substance abuse

Each center forms a Parent Council which chooses and plans support services and activities. Parents gain leadership and decision-making experience, while selecting programs and activities that meet their needs.

Currently, FACET operates in:

• Kingswood Community Center
• Latin American Community Center's La Fiesta Day Care
• Mary E. Herring Child Care Center

FACET is funded by Delaware’s Department of Services for Children, Youth, and Their Families, Division of Family Services, Office of Prevention and Early Intervention.
