THE FAMILY & WORKPLACE CONNECTION RECEIVES
GRANT FROM KRAFT FOODS INCORPORATED
( WILMINGTON, DE) -- The Family & Workplace Connection (FWC) has received a grant from Kraft Foods Incorporated that will be used to support FWC’s Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). FWC is a sponsor of the CACFP for family child care programs throughout Delaware.
The $5,000 grant will be used to resume the production and distribution of FWC’s CACFP Newsletter. Recent budgetary constraints had required the organization to curtail the newsletter’s production and distribution. In the past, CACFP participants relied on the newsletter to provide information such as, changes in policies and rates, rules and regulations, income eligibility for participation, and nutritious recipes.
The purpose of the CACFP is to ensure that children in licensed child care receive nutritionally balanced meals. The CACFP reimburses child care providers for serving meals that follow the guidelines from the U. S. Department of Agriculture. FWC manages the reimbursement process for approximately 385 Delaware licensed family child care homes who, in 2004, served over 1 million nutritious meals to children in their care. FWC also conducts training for the participating providers, who are visited three times a year by FWC food program monitors.
The Family & Workplace Connection is a nonprofit regional dependent care resource and referral organization whose mission is to enhance the supply and quality of care and education for children and elders and to help families effectively manage their work and personal life responsibilities.
