Elder Care
Our elder care referral service helps you sort through the maze of options available for your older loved ones. We’ll guide you to resources and provide you with educational materials tailored to your specific needs. Referrals are provided to a wide range of services, including housing options, adult day care, home health agencies, food programs, legal services, and much more. We are the most comprehensive and current source of information on elder care services in our coverage area. We update our referral information regularly.
Different levels of service are available (see below), depending on your needs.
Employees of corporate clients are eligible for enhanced services. (If you are not sure if your company offers our enhanced services, contact us.) If your employer does not offer our enhanced services as a benefit, encourage your Human Resources department to visit our Employers page and learn more.
Three Levels of Elder Care Referral Service
- Free Service
ElderOnline is our free elder care referral service in Delaware. This service is made possible, in part, with State of Delaware Grant-In-Aid funds. Receive referrals one of two ways:
- Online - Conduct a search of FWC's database and instantly receive Delaware referrals! (Best used with Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher.)
- Phone - If calling from New Castle County, DE, call 302-479-1660; Outside New Castle
County, DE, call 800-660-6602.
When you call during business hours, a friendly receptionist asks you a series of basic questions to find out which services you are interested in. Based on that information, we mail you a packet containing contact information for elder care services that meet your needs. FWC provides referrals representing up to 20 different services in Delaware, including assisted living, companion services, financial services, legal services, senior housing, and transportation.
The packet also includes written information to help you better understand your options. Tip sheets answer such questions as "What is the difference between a companion and a home health aide?" "What are advanced directives?" "Does my mom need assisted living or a nursing home?" "How do I find out about home-delivered meals?"
RespiteOnline is our free respite care service enabling you to do a search for care providers in your area who offer respite care in Delaware. (Best used with Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher.)

Information is supplied by the providers themselves. We make every effort to provide up-to-date information. Please note that the information is intended for referral purposes only. We do not warrant the information concerning any provider or service nor do we license, endorse, or recommend any particular provider or service. Only you can determine the quality of care that is appropriate for your elder.
