Child Care
Our child care referral service helps you find family child care homes, child care centers, preschools, school-age programs, and summer camps. We are the most comprehensive and current source of information on child care providers in our coverage area. Up to 70% of all child care in our region is provided in private homes. Most of these providers do not advertise, but many are listed in our database. We update provider information regularly.
Different levels of service are available (see below), depending on your needs.
Employees of corporate clients are eligible for enhanced services. (If you are not sure if your company offers our enhanced services, contact us.) If your employer does not offer our enhanced services as a benefit, encourage your Human Resources department to visit our Employers page and learn more.
If you are looking for child care outside of Delaware, Southeastern Pennsylvania, or Maryland’s Eastern Shore, you can search for the child care resource and referral organization serving your area.
Three Levels of Child Care Referral Service
- Free Service
AccessCare is our free child care referral service in Delaware. It is made possible, in part, with grants from Delaware Health and Social Services' Division of Social Services and State of Delaware Grant-In-Aid.
Receive referrals one of two ways:
- Online - Conduct a real-time search of FWC's database and instantly receive Delaware referrals! (Best used with Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher.)
- Phone - If calling from New Castle County, DE, call 302-479-1660; Outside New Castle County, DE, call 800-660-6602. You can receive lists of legally operating child care providers within our service area (Delaware, Southeastern Pennsylvania, and Maryland's Eastern Shore.) We will mail or e-mail you the information within two business days. The packet will contain names and telephone numbers in the zip code area you requested, as well as written information on child care options, the components of quality care, licensing requirements, and more.
RespiteOnline is our free respite care service enabling you to do a search for care providers in your area who offer respite care in Delaware. (Best used with Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher.)
