When can Just in Time Care be used?
The Just in Time Care program can be used whenever regular child care or elder care arrangements are not available, whether the circumstance is anticipated or unanticipated. It can be used when children or elders are ill; when regular care providers are sick, on vacation, resign, or go out of business; when schools are closed for snow and holidays; or any other situation in which the regular care arrangement falls through.

Who may use Just in Time Care?
You determine eligibility. Just in Time Care is available to your entire eligible employee population once your company purchases the service. After enrolling, employees can use a toll-free extended-hours hotline in operation 365 days a year.

How much will Just in Time Care cost my company?
An operations fee enables FWC to arrange care, track usage, and handle provider payments for Just in Time Care companies. In addition, your company pre-pays the subsidized portion of your employees' backup care costs, based on projected usage.

How much of the backup care is typically subsidized?
Most companies offering Just in Time Care subsidize 80% of the cost of care, up to $300 per family per year. Employees pay the remaining 20% when care is provided. The company chooses the subsidy level and cap.

Why should my company subsidize backup care expenses?
Drop-in backup care ranges from $25 to $75 a day, while in-home agency care averages $15 to $20 an hour. These costs are often in addition to the cost of regular care. By subsidizing backup care expenses, you can make that care more affordable, which increases the likelihood that your employees will use the service and report to work.
