ABOUT US

The Family & Workplace Connection (FWC), a division of Children & Families First, is a non-profit resource and referral organization that has been serving Delaware and the region since 1986. On February 1, 2008, FWC became part of Children & Families First.

Our mission is to strengthen families and help them manage their work and personal life responsibilities by providing social, educational and mental health services and by enhancing the supply and quality of care and education for children and elders.

We provide direct programs, comprehensive information and appropriate resources to caregivers, empowering them with the knowledge to make the best choices and use the best practices with available resources. Through advocacy, education, and information provision, we impact the lives of those less able to care for themselves.

As a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3), we are supported by numerous foundations and corporations, and are eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions from individuals.

Approximately 45 businesses directly contract with us to provide corporate referral services to their employees, including the nationally recognized Just in Time Care program. These include both regional and national companies, large and small. While our primary geographic coverage area is Delaware, Southeastern Pennsylvania, and Maryland’s Eastern Shore, our corporate services are provided nationwide. In addition, several national work/life vendors contract with us to provide services to their clients located in our region.

Children & Families First employs about 230 full- and part-time staff. Staff members have credentials and experience in early childhood, geriatrics, human services, education, special education, social work, and include counselors, licensed clinical social workers, parent educators, paraprofessionals, outreach workers and medical personnel. In addition, members of the Board of Directors bring the perspective of employers, families, and care providers, as well as a wealth of expertise in the corporate, not-for-profit, education, and public sectors.

Children & Families First has six locations statewide.
